USART in MSPI mode as a fast shift register
Or just send a "space" before first char. (and start a tad before, so the real text will stay the same) (the write could be done by the H-line init, so the text buffer stay the...

It sounds like the simulator in Studio7, or do I miss something ?

115200 baud UART
Us with PAL did not use 3,579545 for anything before the PC time, (and then it was 14,31818 where 1/4 was colour and 1/3 was speed.)

Reverse bit order of a byte
It's really going downhill if simple things like this can happen (I hate but understand cut and paste errors)   in same datasheet for LDS it has this note for XMEGA's...

Reverse bit order of a byte
Funny it used to be correct !     As I know it's only one of the clones that can do it in 1 clk

115200 baud UART
Next time when you need 230400 you will use them.   Somewhere I have a hole box of 11.0592 MHz crystals from the "good" old 8051 time.

Suggestions on how to make Blinky blink
If you can , put a beeper over the LED, and make a solid sound when ok, and ticks when not (where off time gets bigger with the error).  (or the other way no sound if ok)...

115200 baud UART
How is the AS7265x clocked ? (Are you sure that it is running 115200 baud).   If one end is close to 100% correct, 3.5% error at the other end should be ok. ...

Executing ASCII - an observation.
you can make a cpsne with cpse followed by a cpse rn,rn where rn is one of the 32 registers.   For a good solution : both the program AND the ASCII text should make...

Interrupts Not Required
unified memory AVR ? The registers are moved from the memory map , so it should only be "changed memory AVR"

Interrupts Not Required
Add : And the 8051 had bank switch of the registers (mostly used for interrups), think if r24-r31 on a AVR could be changed to r8-r15 just by flipping a bit ;)  ...
