urgent please! You need a pogrammer to program your code into the AVR. Examples of these would be the very elegant STK500 development board or an ATAVRISP mkII.

stk500 problems When the STK is in 'Update mode" the only LED lit up is the POWER.....though the STATUS and VTARGET flash on then turn off in a fraction of a second. Try to remove all cables/AVRs...
