You're right, Atmel's current method of publishing errata is really only useful for end-users of particular devices - it's pretty horrible for people who are trying to maintain...

Interesting, Cliff... My version of AVR Studio 5.1 claims to be avr-gcc.exe (AVR_8_bit_GNU_Toolchain_3.3.1_466) 4.5.1 So clearly you've got a different build of toolchain...

It seems likely that you are using a version of the compiler which is too old to include support for the Xmega series of AVRs. The official GNU sources for avr-gcc only recently...
