Atmel ICE and linux
I asked on the AvaRICE mailing list. Apparently, the new firmware for the JTAGICE3 makes it into a Human Interface Device (as the Atmel-ICE is as well) and changes its USB vender/...

Atmel ICE and linux
This is interesting.   Since the protocol is just the same, the new debug dongle called "Atmel-ICE" (**) is also supported that way. (This refers to the AVR part, obviously...

Atmel ICE and linux
So if the JTAGICE3 is going to be disabled, and the ATMEL-ICE doesn't work at all, what is one to do? Is the Dragon the only option?

Atmel ICE and linux
Hmm. I wonder why. I hope you can find the reference.   The Dragon is still widely available, it seems. Aside from the fact that it supposedly breaks from ESD from looking at...

Atmel ICE and linux
I was looking to get a debugger, but noticed that the JTAGICE3 is no longer produced and that the ATMEL-ICE is the way to go. But then I found that AvaRICE doesn't support the...

PCF8574 I2c port extender current sink always sinking proble
Quote:Move R2 to the other side of R1 connection and it should work. It worked, but I had to lower the 10k resistor to 1k.

Low tolerance digital variable resistors
I actually need a rheostat (two terminal VR).

PCF8574 I2c port extender current sink always sinking proble
Oh whoops, I did get it all wrong, the output is not open drain. Only the INT is open drain. Will look at it in more detail tomorrow. I do have a back-EMF diode on the relay BTW....

PCF8574 I2c port extender current sink always sinking proble
I guess a FET would be a better idea, since it's voltage driven. 1 or 0 as 'on' would both be OK. However, I already built two PCB's using this technique and I hope I can make a...

PCF8574 I2c port extender current sink always sinking proble
Hmm, I don't get that. I thought the whole point of an open-drain setup is to be able to interface different voltages together, as long as you use a pull-up resistor like I do....

Low tolerance digital variable resistors
Some kind of calibration did occur to me, and I especially like DocJC's idea :) (maybe not practically, but in its own right), but there is a problem. The VR's have 256 steps. Let...

PCF8574 i2c port extender: maximum current quesiton
Hmm, that would require PCB redesign. The 47k loads are currently fed to a darlington transistor pair. When the port is 1, the transistor turns on, turning on relays. 106µA is...
