I once had a problem with gcc and uint32_t variables too, i don't trust them since. But here we have uint8_t I believe? The question is also how did the OP observe the phenomenon...

Perhaps try calling all files in lowercase first. You never know what happens when windows case-insensitive guts and unix case-sensitive binutils are mixed up.
