Hello,

I created UPDI / ISP/dW / TPI / SWD debugger supported by Atmel Studio. It is based on mEDBG from Xplained mini modules, and because of that I call it Xplained Yourself. I started project page on hackaday,
so I won't repeat myself here.

Main features are:

  • It's not tied to specific MCU
  • SPI programming
  • dW debugging
  • UPDI debugging
  • TPI debugging
  • SWD debugging
  • can be made with Arduino (micro or compatible) and a few passives
  • cheap and simple

It's literally hacked Xplained mini debugger. Microchip provided us with schematics and firmware, I modified EEPROM, so it can program every compatible MCU. I was able to understood EEPROM with this comment made by duzern.

This project isn't closed yet, thus schematic is (very) not final, but it's working fine, as far as I tested it.

Do you think it would be possible to upload your hacked firmware to a Chinese Arduino Pro Micro clone and it would work? They have become pretty cheap, less than €3.

I tested it that way with Micro. It will work as long as you can access needed pins (TPI is not available with Micro).
