Today's and last week's lead-time e-mails show a nearly half year lead-time for one XMEGA.

Some packages aren't affected; didn't look at all XMEGA.

hmm I don't see that info on that page, I hope that the Xmega32E5 are not affected or that my board house did get the chips a couple of months ago.

Looks like there are many thousands in stock. I'm only using 1,000 for the current job and the board house had the PO a couple of months ago.

I've seen a couple of stories in the trade press recently mentioning the 'A' word.

#1 Hardware Problem? https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/...

#2 Hardware Problem? Read AVR042.

#3 All grounds are not created equal

#4 Have you proved your chip is running at xxMHz?

#5 "If you think you need floating point to solve the problem then you don't understand the problem. If you really do need floating point then you have a problem you do not understand."

Lead-time has been restored to near usual other than for a relative few XMEGA (Jun'21, Aug'21)

This is resolving for some XMEGA; others have a very long lead time.

That's pretty much goodnight for me! I was debating whether I should continue working but a year+ delay on getting chips pretty much seal the retirement warrant. sad

It seems there is light at the end of the tunnel, for me at least.

Do you guys trust in all distributors pointed by Octoparts.com?

I had to change an entire pcb and firmware because of the lack of components

Have experience with only a few distributors at Octopart.

https://octopart.com/search?q=ATxmega128A1U&currency=USD&specs=0&in_stock_only=1

Rochester Electronics is well known; not surprised about a PCB respin.

Ewing Components has some though in overstock :
