I haven't touched my XMEGA A1U Xplained Pro for around 6 months, but I know for a fact that it was working the last time I used it, however when I tried to run some tests on it today it wouldn't let me run any code on it. The first time I tried to run a debug session it it updated the firmware of the on-board EDBG, however I'm afraid I didn't take note of the versions, but I'm 75% sure it from from version 2. something to version 3.something (whether that's of any importance?) and now whenever I try to run a debug session it fails, giving me the following error message...

The orange status LED is light up at this time also if that's of any significance. Any ideas anyone?

The firmware version the EDBG was updated to is 3.1f, if that's of any significance...

Here is the tool information if that's of any significance...

Might have been a bad firmware upgrade. Try to upgrade the firmware manually:

1. Open Atmel Studio 7 Command prompt

2. Run atfw from the EDBG tool folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Studio\7.0\tools\EDBG

atfw -a edbg_fw.zip -t edbg

I... there is a bug in the EDBG firmware for this kit.

Use this firmware (support kb was written today). Same steps as above (i.e Atmel Studio Command prompt), but instead of -a edbg_fw.zip, point it to -a <path to downloaded zip>.

The bug surfaces on the XMEGA A1U Xpro and the SAM E70 Xplained kits.
