Thanks Jim - one of the hold backs for me is that I've got 8 bytes in the configuration for the fuses/lock bits and I think the part I was looking at for UPDI had like 10 or more.  I suppose I should have made this area dynamic in my configuration or left some room to expand into.  I think I had some room and already used it.  The short of it is that I will have to make a configuration change which will make a new APC file format that is incompatible this the previous version.  One thing turns into another!  Still, I would like to add UPDI support, so I just need to fit it in with my other projects.

OK, there are lots of these ,,,  just an UNO,  or tiny version with one pin used as a UPDI interface.  But I need a device to program ATtiny devices that have been coded/compiled with Microchip MPLABX.  So the output is a HEX file, and some kind of smart PC application is needed that understands the flash page size of the various tiny devices,  so can issue the erase-page,  write-page commands as needed to transfer this to the  UNO -> UPDI interface.   The UPDI command management therefore needs to be in the PC app so it is flexible enough to handle ALL the existing-and-future UPDI  devices, and the UNO would just provide the kind-of-simple serialization and bi-directional hardware link layer that is needed.    Does anyone provide such a PC app?
