Hello freaks!

Why atmel doesnt have any BETA-RC versions of the upcomming AS5.1, like for example TI CCS 5.1 and Microchip MPLABX?

I am courius to see how many we want to test a beta version of the upcomming AS 5.1 and who knows, if we are many Atmel may release a beta test ver to the avrfreaks community!

Please vote and have fun!

That is naive. If you've followed what has happened with releases of both hardware and software from Atmel for the last few years, and seen the discussions, leaks and hints here at AVRfreaks you would have known that Atmel now practices a "nothing at all revealed until actual release" policy.

By and large I think this is fine. I'd rather have the AS5 team working all they can in making the 5.1 release as good as it can be, than to deal with the havoc that would emerge if the lot here (including me) would start to toss in stuff they would like in 5.1.

If the AS5 team should open up somewhat on what they are doing they should make available a proper bug reporting tool with the follow-up also open.

No vote from me since I missed the alternative "No please, since I don't think it would be productive".

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

Well yes i dont have as a student, your experience level but it makes me angry when i see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJIe7OchURI

I think that nice marketing video, who knows how much i Atmel paid to make it, shows exactly what is not happening with AS5 about quality, bugs and feedback. They could use that money to make a proper bug reporting tool etc...I hate marketing...

I voted No thanks, i dont like AS5 and i use AS4 old school only! because I hate debugging and couldn't get AS5 to work. I will wait for AS5.1, and for some people on this forum to say that they like it.

I agree with JohanEkdahl. Atmel needs proper bug reporting. They also need a working wiki.

Remember, AS5 was put into a public beta for a month or so before full release. Perhaps we'll see a similar public beta rather than a full release sometime soon - who knows (certainly not I).

Interpret the missing 20K votes as "don't care", i.e. not actively pining for a beta.
