Which FatFS to download?

Do i download FatFs R0.07e or the avr port from ffsample
to start using FatFS ? Why might one use FatFs R0.07e ?

1) Studio 4.18 build 716 (SP3)
2) WinAvr 20100110
3) PN, all on Doze XP... For Now
A) Avr Dragon ver. 1
B) Avr MKII ISP, 2009 model
C) MKII JTAGICE ver. 1

While the version of FatFs in this has some very minor differences from the "release" version:

I'd download that as the AVR directory has everything you need to get started (the mmc.c in particular). There's even a .png showing how to wire things up. Obviously you need to make some tweaks if not using a 64/128

Thanks Clawson. I worked on getting the avr port from fftsample for a m644 to compile yesterday ( just in case it was the one to use -- esp. with help of the painless tut. on this site ) and the compile is error free now.

It takes 44KB of flash though. How do i chop that down ( i use whatever the default options / settings are )? I've seen on 'freaks that people have it in 20's of KB range.

If you look at 'ff.h' you'll see the options available for reducing memory needs.
