After (only after) I soldered the chip I got the feeling I made it wrong.

Where is pin#1 ?

If I keep the chip in such a way that i can normally read Atmel logo on it, is pin#1 on the up-left corner ? There is no mark on that corner.

On the top side there are two marks, like two circles, one bigger, one smaller. Is pin#1 near the big circle ?
George.

Hi George,

This Thread discusses the same topic regarding the Xmega chips.

It might provide some insight.

Ahh, I made it wrong, 180*. I see the chamfer, but in this case the Atmel logo is 90* turned right.

I wonder why is this so complicated to keep consistency and mark it properly ?

Actually the chamfer is the consistent/normal marking on a QFP. So the chip IS marked properly.
