Anyone know of any distributors with any of the XMEGA parts in stock?
Where can we buy XMEGA in North America?
Nobody. They are not yet in full production. You can get samples from Atmel, however.
LOL--few if any of us have even received samples yet. And those are indeed marked E.S. from reports, and appear to be the chip rev. G which has an errata list suggesting it is nowhere near ready to put into a production batch of our boards.
But we can dream...
Maybe we can have a guessing contest to see when DigiKey or Mouser or other distis actually show a stock level for a model of Xmega. Lessee--the errata list need not be clean, bu I speculate that more than one turn will be needed to clean it up enough for production. Say 4 weeks/turn. Then another 8 weeks for a batch to reach distis. It is mid-June. My guess is therefore 14-September-2008.
« News - 2008.05.20 Late EditionAtmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) recently announced the AVR XMEGA microcontrollers family. ...
The first devices, ATxmega128A1 and ATxmega64A1 are both offered in 100-pin TQFP and BGA packages and are available now. Volume prices for 10k units are US$3.75 and US$3.50, respectively. Other XMEGA devices will be available during 2Q or 3Q of 2008.
Note that that this is the EXACT SAME WORDING as the late-February product announcement.
For the "contest", let's say that EW is already disqualified. On 26-Feb he speculated "single digit weeks" for samples. That expired about mid-May. ;)

Thanks, I've been requesting samples on their website a few times now with nothing coming in :(.
Thanks for the information. I've been curious when the XMega was coming, and was expecting a realistic appearance sometime this Fall. Late summer would be great (although this means school would be starting around this time :( )
