Isn't this still subject to fall out from the "PS/3 hack"? It instantly absorbed just about all >16K AVR USB chips when it was first published.

Maybe PJRC needs to deal with DigiKey or Mouser or Avnet...

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

I've had a u4 design collecting dust for a year now. Several suppliers that used to carry it eventually marked it as non-stock. Digi-Key continued to list it as a stocked item, but without any units available and very long lead times. Recently, I've noticed several suppliers again have listed it as a stocked item, with actual chips arriving February and March. Maybe this means we will see more of them. I need the QFN, which should be available again soon, but I won't print any boards until I can be more confident of future availability.

Long stated lead times? Yes.
Not available? See my post above.

[In the past year, there have been spot shortages of what I'd call "mainstream" AVR models that affected us. Mega48, Mega164, Mega64. So you just have to "Keep trying". And it is not just Atmel parts...]

Ooops--just saw that. Those are apparently indeed encased in unobtanium.

Hmm, I've asked Paul of Teensy why not buy from Mouser. Maybe he has a better/cheaper source?

Turns out that he needs the "MU" version and it's apparently unobtainable.
