It's time to learn something new, and that will be the AVR32. My goals will be to learn some AVR32 assembly and migrate my XMega video projects to AVR32. I am interested in SDRAM interfacing and see this board has an 8MB SDRAM included so that is good.
What worries me is the lack of IO on the board. It has 4 connectors that seem to have 8 IOs each, but I am not yet familiar with AVR32 hardware, so can all of those IO be used as GPIO if not needing the special functions? If not, then the board really has only 8 GPIO, which is going to be very restrictive in my work.
One more question to those who have used the Xplain UC3 board...
How much bandwidth can I get out of the SDRAM using the EBI?
Currently, I am getting 32MHz (read or write) on an SRAM connected to an XMega with my own asm driver.
