I got a shipment from Digikey and one item was missing. In it's place was a mystery item. What is it?

There was a strip of 3 labels, and stapled to the strip were two of the items each in it's own poly bag with a duplicate label stuck on.

But the third item, actually the first one on the strip, was missing. In it's place there was another item in a poly bag but this bag had no label. Hmmm... Maybe Digikey doesn't know what it is either :)

Here is a picture of the top of the label strip showing a label for two header pin strips. That's what I ordered.

Then there is the picture of the mystery item. Actually they sent two. The two is correct because you can see I ordered two header pin strips.

The mystery item is plastic. The top is concave and has a textured surface. The bottom has an adhesive "gasket" and the adhesive is protected by the white piece of paper you see in the photo.

Looks like some kind of LED difuser to me!

Look up KE1804-ND on Digikey. That tells you its a dispenser for a flux "pen".

Strange...

No. My post was a little confusing. The picture showed a bit of the second item. The KE1804 was the second item on the strip. That is a flux pen, and I did receive that.

It's the first item that I didn't get. 929647-02. That's the header strip that wasn't there.

The strip of labels was correct. All three labels on the strip were for items I ordered. The problem is only two items I ordered were stapled to it. The flux pen was there, but the header strip was not. In it's place was the mystery item.

To repeat, the two correct items had labels stuck to their bags that were duplicates of the labels on the strip. That's normal. But the mystery item had no label stuck to it's bag. That is not normal.

You are correct. A Digikey search of "LED diffuser" turned up one item. This is the part number:
OPAA-1-DF-ND

There is a picture of it on the first page of this 5 meg pdf file:
http://www.lumidrives.com/Docume...

This part has a minimum order of 2000 pieces for $880. That may explain the lack of a sticker. They probably put a sticker on each 2000th one.

I got two for the price of a couple of lousy header pin strips. Better yet, Digikey shows 0 quantity available. I guess it's my lucky day :)

I ordered some parts from Digi-Key about teo years ago. I was expecting a very small, light weight pacakge. Well, a very large box was delivered. There was about $1,000.00 worth of 10,000uF, 50VDC capacitors in the box. I told Digi-Key and they sent me an RMA. I had to talk them into refunding me the shipping for those capacitors to my house. Afterward, I thought, not only should they have offered to refund my shipping, they sould have offered me a Butterfly, or something, for being honest.

Well anyway, I get to sleep night!

Oh man! I'll betcha every time you've found yourself in need of a few dozen 10,000uF caps you wished you'd kept them.

Yeah! There's been a couple of times I could have used one or two of them.

But like I said, I sleep god at night.
