Guys, I'm not sure if I understood it correctly.

I'm looking for a way to debug a mega32u4. I have an Atmel ICE and a board with the ISP connection (not JTAG).

I was going to enable the debugWire, but from the datasheet it seems this AVR does not have this feature (and no fuse DWEN is available).

Also the PDI interface is not present.

Is it correct without a JTAG interface I cannot do any debug? Is there a way to your the ISP connection to do some debugging?

This topic has a solution.

The ISP can only write programs. There is no debug function.
32u4 does not have Debug Wire.
Debugging is not possible unless your board is equipped with the jtag interface.
Atmel-ICE has a jtag interface.

What kind of bug do you have?  Can you send information out the UART, or even use some spare port pins as status indications?...sometimes that is actually better.  Remember, you are both the best bugger and debugger.
