I want to send information from my atmega8 to my Nokia phone (Symbian 60 5th edition). Can you guys suggest ways to do so. I could only think of a Bluetooth or GSM module. But I am looking for a cheaper solution. The phone will be in proximity of the uC for the duration of the project.

Is this information something that the cellphone is retransmitting to a distant location or are you "just" changing "settings" in the cellphone?

Is a cable connection OK?

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

Download the Nokia PC-suite or the OVI-suite. It is a bluetooth communication between phone and PC.
You could read out your AVR with PC and then synchronise with your phone.

I am not sure how much (or how easy) automation you can build with it. I think it is worth the effort to investigate.

A cable connection is OK. I am sensing current with my AVR and want to send data back to phone. This phone can be connected to the AVR,project involves estimating power consumed. I want to store or process data using python in the phone.

Yes I want to retransmit to another phone via an SMS.

I'll have a cheaper phone on the MCU end.
