Because Atmel have done a deal to include it.

What is notable by its absence from VS2015/AS7 is "Intellisense" which is the Microsoft equivalent. So I guess M$ wanted to charge Atmel for it so they found an alternative and I guess "Whole Tomato" saw this as a good way to "advertise" their own add-on ?

It is quite a good deal to get it for "free" though! :-)

It's not clear exactly which version it actually is. You can read the features of VA here:

https://www.wholetomato.com/purchase/compareToVs

I guess you could go through that complete list and see which ones are present in AS7.

EDIT: tried a few - most of the ones I tried do seem to be there so I assume it's a "whole" copy.

Of course for all the fancy features it may add I bet the only one anyone ever really uses is "goto implementation" wink

What "free" version are you talking about? I don't see the mention of the word "free" anywhere on that page?

The only mention of "Free" I see is here:

https://www.wholetomato.com/downloads

But that is still the whole version - it's just it runs out after 30 days. This:

https://www.wholetomato.com/purchase/compare

suggests there only are 3 licenced versions and the cheapest of those is $49.
