I'm doing some ATMega328P development with Jumpstart C and Atmel-ICE on Windows 10.  Everything was working fine up until a couple of days ago when the IDE stopped being able to connect to the ICE. When I plug the ICE into a USB port, Windows beeps in acknowledgement, and it shows up in device manager (under Atmel > Atmel-ICE Data Gateway). The IDE vendor (Imagecraft) claims this is all they should need to connect to it, but they can tell from a DebugView log that the IDE isn't finding the ICE, so they don't know what the problem is. I've also tried using Atmel Studio, but it has the same problem, so this looks like a Windows issue. I've tried rebooting the PC, disabling Malwarebytes, reinstalling the IDE, and swapping out the ICE for another one, but no luck. Has anyone encountered something like this before?  It's just killing me, so I'd really appreciate any pointers. Thanks.

Windows 10 version 1709 build 16299.248 (2/13/2018)?

What's the version of Atmel Studio (7.0.<build>)?

Reasons:

  • Windows 10 USB issue (again)
  • Some third party USB drivers (Jungo, etc) are non-functional in 16299.248

After installing this update, some USB devices and onboard devices, such as a built-in laptop camera, keyboard or mouse, may stop working.  This may occur when the windows update servicing stack incorrectly skips installing the newer version of some critical drivers in the cumulative update and uninstalls the currently active drivers during maintenance.
