UART Framing Error

Hi,

 

I am working on an example project(SAMC21 Xplained pro) using "Atmel Start" -> EDBG UART. Below are the clock settings from the example and it works great.

 

now I changed the clock settings to this 

and I am facing "Framing Error" problem

 

 

Nothing else is changed in the project except the clocks and the Baud Rate is 115200. I presume the clock settings are correct since I didn't get any error/warning notifications. 

 

If I change the CPU clock as show below then it is working again. I am not sure why higher CPU clock is causing such a problem.

 

 

Any suggestions would be great.

Hint: Framing errors, for UARTs generally. are caused by baud rate errors.

 

If that is the case here, then there is probably something from the change in CPU frequency that did not carry though the computation for the UART clock scaler. I would check the actual scaler setting and compare that to what the spec sheet says for that CPU clock and baud rate combination.
