I'm trying to debug some code that waits for a specific value through the uart to start a sequence. I was wondering if there was a way to put a value into the uart in the simulator to see if the code is doing what I want it to do? I know that Keil software has a uart window in simulator mode. Does avr studio have anything comparable?

You should be able to change the register that reads the UDR to any value you want.

ie put a breakpoint just before the read, single step the read then change the value of the register which has just "read" UDR and run again.

Clawson, that is exactly what I was looking for. I have to build a uart to twi bridge for a daq chip. This will help tremendously. If anyone could point me to a twi to uart bridge example that would help tons.
