testing [AVR code using Studio alone]

hallo,

i'am ussing atmel studio 7.0.1931 and i want to test my program. not on device, but just on the computer monitor.

the last time i did some programing i ussed avr studio 4. and what i remeber was that i could see all the in/out puts and variable.

now i want to see the same things, but i don't no how.

I believe what you are talking about is the Simulator. In the settings for your project make sure this is set to "Simulator":

 

 

Then you can use:

 

 

When you click that >|| icon it will build your code up to date then start the simulator. For Asm it will then break at location 0x0000, for C it will break at the first instruction in main(). You can now step through the code, examine variables and so on.

yes thats wright, (i didn't realy now abbout the seccond step)

than i juse the arrow "step into (F11) to step trough the program.

but in the bottem left corner i find a smal screen "autos" where i can see the outputs and the variables. but when i see one and i make the next step they disappears.

in avr studio 4 i can also see the registers from the timers. where i  saw witch was enabled or disabled.

There are a load of windows to view various info during simulation/debugging:

 

 

The one I think you want is "IO"
