Hi,

I was just wondering if someone built a serial (I2C, SPI or shift registers) for a LCD with a T6963 controller. I don't know a lot about this Controller (all i know is that my display has one). Would it be nonsense to take a I2C I/O Expander and connect it to the LCD? Will it be too slow?

Thanks for your ideas!
Tobias

There are projects in the academy section of avrfreaks with t6963 source code...

Yes you CAN

I have done this (with similiar displays). It is a bit slower, but not noticeable by the eye. I used shift registers to interface to a SED1520 display.

I am working on such a project right now which includes an AVR chip and you can send to it serially commands creating lines, text, boxes and circles on a T6963 based display. It will be available through a website till the end of March :)
