Atmel abandon LINUX developers ?
It is NOT true !
I have some spare time and try to install Studio 2_6 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ( 64-bit ). everything works out of box. Debug also - I use JTAGICE mkII for debuging.
avr32 studio 2.6 WORKS on modern linux distro.
here is what I get in Studio for ENVIRONMENT CHECK RESULTS:

The built in distribution of "AVR Toolchain" is being used.

The built in version of "AVR Utilities" is being used.

You are using the Linux version of the AVR Utilities and AVR Toolchains.
there is problem with FLIP utility - but it can be replaced with this one
