In case you haven't heard, Steve Ciarcia, former Byte columnist and founder of Circuit Cellar (Ink) Magazine, which he sold to Elektor five years ago, has bought back the magazine and will publish it again himself.

As a long-time subscriber who wasn't thrilled by the changes that happened after the Elektor buy-out, I'm looking forward to Steve taking the magazine back to its roots.

Glad to hear that. I dropped my subscription early this year. I have every issue published since Day 1. But with the direction the magazine was headed I decided I could do without it. I sent them an email and told them I had been a subscriber since the beginning. But I couldn't see paying for a publication that was dropping Engineering articles in favor of "Greenie" articles and interviews with Technical Personalities. I subscribed for the technical side of the magazine and didn't want "feel good" articles about how to save the earth and articles describing other peoples past histories and future plans.

I'll wait and see the magazine starts to go back to its roots. If it does, I'll re-subscribe.

Bphillips, my feelings exactly. The ratio of meat vs fluff was going the wrong way for me. I might subscribe for the next year.

I have a few months left on my current subscription, via download mode. I wonder if/when that will die...

And I think the CC mag has gotten smaller and smaller, (fewer pages), since Elektor bought the mag.

The days of a 1/2 inch thick Byte mag are gone, but CC was getting very skimpy.

I saw it yesterday and I thought awesome, I hope Steve Garcia back to the roots of CC.

Roots I mean around 2006, that's when I started my subscription, it was the best layout of ever.

I'd be happy if we could get the BLACK cover back..

On the newsstand shelves - the white cover just disappears into the sea of bland 'imatechietoo' magazines.
