It has been a while since I've been on the forum.
Last I remember there were many that were recommending AVR Studio 4 as AVR Studio 5 did not seem stable for production use.
What is the current concensus/status of AVR Studio 5 at this time?

Studio 5.1 is not too bad.
The "ToolChain" version of avr-gcc is a bit of a joke.
It is only usable if you know what to avoid.
Studio 4.18 and WinAvr-20100110 is a safer bet.
Of course Studio 5.1 and WinAvr-20100110 would be a sensible compromise.
However they have hard-coded Toolchain as the only C Compiler. At least I can't see how to select anything else.
They have chosen Toolchain as default compiler in Studio 4.19. But at least you can select an alternative !

Regarding changing the toolchain in 5.1/6.0

Thanks for the replies. I found this answer in another thread:
If you want to work with AS5 then you need a "qradruple espresso" every 15 minutes... :?
