I tried to downloaded the firmware to ATmega88P by AtmelStudio6.2 and JTAGICE3.

Device Programming setting.

The Interface item choice is "ISP".

An error occurs when I carry out Device signature.

(info)

Unable to enter programming mode.

Please verify device selection, interface settings, target power and connections to the target device. Look in the details section for more infomation.

Would you tell me by the solution to this problem.

Thanks.

Can you tell us about the target board? Post a picture of it? I see 2.9v that's kind of low.
Which version of Studio 6.x? Have you been able to program any AVR's with the J3? There has been a USB update installer that has been used to fix things. Might need that.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your reply. My target board have ATmega88 and CC1101(ti's device) for the wireless communication.

The tip is listed with "MEGA88PA".

AtmelStudio's version is 6.2.1563 - Service Pack 2

A target board and  JTAGICE3 connection.

I use this JTAGICE3  for ATxmega128's farmware downloading.

After using AVRISP mk2, I can Device signature.

Would it be not to be able to communicate if it is not AVRISP mk2?

And is it possible for debugging ATmega88 in JTAGICE3?

Thanks

Did you try flipping the ISP connector on the J3?  Possible that you have it mis connected?

Hi Jim,

An answer becomes slow and is very sorry. It was able to be settled.

When alcohol washes a connector part of the cable of JTAGICE3; with the debugger came to be able to communicate. I might be dirty with flax.

Thank you so much for your help.
