We are currently trying to establish a serial communication through USB on a custom board using the SAME70J21B unit. We are using the Atmel Start page to setup a basic USB CDC device, but this does not appear to work.

Configuring the clock using Atmel Start (USB 480MHz clk and USB 48MHz clk) allows windows to detect the device, but not identify it. Windows gives a Device Descriptor Request Failed message and seems to be unable to load the proper CDC drivers.

We were wondering if this could be related to the fact that this package of the Cortex-M7 does not seem to have HSUSB support, only FSLSUSB, according to the datasheet. Most of the example code and online discussion seems to be based on the SAME70Q package which does support HSUSB.

We are using Atmel Studio 7 (Version: 7.0.1931).

Any help would be appritiated.

Turns out USB dose not work in the LQFP packet devices... Mailed Microchip and got the following answer:

"The USBHS module does not function in 64-pin LQFP package devices."
