Hi All
I am starting this topic for all of you to add features and bugfix requests specifically for SerialNet.

this is not a list for how to fix them, start a thread for that.

I will edit and maintain this list, and post it off to zigbee@atmel.com once it has a few items on it.

If you want to add a feature to serial net FIRST search the Forum to see if it has been done, if not, send an email to zigbee@atmel.com and ask them if they can help you.
Then add it here, even if you are successful

Thanks

alexru - removed from sticky, looks like there are no bugs in SN people want to fix:)
Agreed Alex, people keep complaining, but won't send emails to Atmel, or post here :)

Alex is right, no requests/bugs must mean that Serialnet is perfect..... :)
Here is my list of issues
1. It would be nice to add a mode that can allow data to be sent directly from one node to another like in Peer to Peer mode
A command like +ATUART AB01,0
Would send anything from the UART to node AB01 in binary mode
This would allow the 128rfa1 or atmega256rfr2 to do anything an XBee can do.
2. Being able to get a network map
3. Over the air upgrade, the at mega 256rfr2 has 32k of ram, and 256k of flash, plenty of room for the full Serialnet stack and OTAU
4. A simple method of sending and receiving I2C requests for interacting with sensors
5. Inclusion as a standard application and source with each release of Bitcloud

Anyone else like these suggestions, or have any more, please add them here.
Phil

I'll push hard to create a SerialNet replacement based on LwMesh. Open source, obviously, with an easy way to extend command set.

Direct communication mode (like peer to peer) is one of my top requirements. Command/data mode should be selected using GPIO or serial command, as suggested. I think this is how grown up modems do this.

NOTE: I no longer actively read this forum. Please ask your question on www.eevblog.com/forum if you want my answer.

Thanks, I know it would help if those who want to use it actually put requests through either here or through the Atmel email, I think I will just keep adding links back to this page when I see people complaining about it :)

Actually got my ATMEGA256RFR2 chips today :)

I do like the idea of being able to switch between UART and command with I/O, that would be good, a true mesh-able UART link would be great.

Thanks
Phil

Hello,

I would like to ask if it is possible to "get" the SerialNet file for Zigbit 900 MeshNetics.

I am in the process of developing the engineering work that completes my studies and I am writing a PC software for network communication using the AT commands. Unfortunately, the disc in the set does not have this file, which is strange because the documentation (on the disc) is a link to a non-existent SerialNet directory.

Sincerely
Michał Gałkowski.
