How do I use a serial terminal while debugging an ATSAMD21E16 based custom board ? I am doing it on Atmel studio.

well you need uart to serial interface from your board to the PC. The other way is you can have embedded debugger on your board through which you can etablish connection. Thats the hardware requirement. If you want to view the terminal then you download the terminal package for atmel or use putty

Hi @satya284 ,Thankyou for the response. Can you tell me how to add uart to serial interface on my board ?  Will a USB to serial converter work just by connecting TX , RX , GND and VCC to the pins corresponding on the board?

Hi,uart to serial does not make sense. Sorry for that, check the ic below from Microchip. there are some configurations to be done but its not that difficult. Also check for some boards available and read about them and implement it.
