Bought a SAMB11Xplained board. Updated studio 7 to latest release. Start Studio-7  and plug the SAMB11Xplained board into the PC using the USB port. All according to the user manual.

I get a "USB device not recognized" error message. If I open the PC 'hardware' section there is indeed one "unknown device" among the Universal Serial Bus controllers. I select that an try "Update Driver Software...". I select "Browse my computer ...."

If I then point to either the 'C:\ATMEL' directory on my drive or the 'C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\ATMEL' directory, in both cases windows tells me that "The best driver software for you device is already installed".

I also tried 'search online' for the drivers but that gives the same result.

That is where my knowledge ends and I don't know what else to do.

By the way: my win-7 is fully up to date.

Check your USB cable. Xplained Pro boards does not need a driver, so that message usually means that Windows was unable to talk to the board...

And check that the USB socket on the board is (still) securely attached, and connections are intact - they have been known to come loose on Xplained Pro boards...
