SAM4S ISP programmer ?

Guys,

 

What's a low cost programmer for SAM4S family ? can I use USBASP ?

Any clues ?

Just buy a sam4s xplained board. It has a programmer and debug unit on the board.
These chips don't use ISP, it is JTAG/SWD.
You might want to investigate MBED, but Atmel currently don't seem to have any offerings for this platform yet. Here has been rumblings of it though.

You can program SAM4S via UART0 or USB on startup via ISP using a FTDI USB-232-3.3 cable or normal USB. The USB option is only available if you have an external crystal (eg: 12MHz). The only issue is that if the GPNVM1 bit is set (ie: been programmed before), you have to pull the erase pin first. There isn't any debugging with the ISP apart from what you implement manually.

 

Samba can be used to do the programming thereafter. I've found the at91sam4sX-ek works well for programming.

Doesn't the ATMEL-ICE device do these parts?
