Hi,

I want to use a rj45 connector but confused with different types and pinouts. Here is a one which I can find:

first of all, what this POE thing? Does it provide power to the board and what is its use? If using POE, the RJ45 connector differs like this:

I also found Ethernet shield for arduino which uses pinouts different from the above:

It mentions that it uses a standard RJ45 connector but I could not find one with the documented pinouts.

Can you shed some light on this?

Power Over Ethernet uses the same cabling as the Ethernet data cable to power up a device without extra power cable, the voltage and current are limited of course.

note that with POE the pinout isn't any different, only the pins have dual purpose. [you also need special electronics on the power supply side for it to work, as well as special magnetics]
