Some problem with AVRISP mkii used as PDI for Xmega-A3BU-Xplained

Atmel Studio (Version 7.0.2389)
I use Windows10.

Sometimes/often the programmer needs to be restarted because it does not see my board Xmega-A3BU-Xplained anymore. This happens at least every morning when I want to resume. The computer simply comes out of sleep and everything of Studio is still there, except programmer don't see board.
It does not come up then from Tools/Device Programmming.
Taking out and reconnecting USB cables does not help.

Is there a simple way to restart the programmer without restarting Atmel Studio?

The computer simply comes out of sleep

When Windows goes to sleep so do some drivers...

So, for how long do you unplug the mkII from the USB port?

Does Windows "Ding" when you plug it back in, (like it should), and/or pop up a "Your device is now ready to use" message.

Try giving it 10 or 15 Seconds after you unplug it before you plug it back in.

You can also try plugging it back into a different USB port than the one you just pulled it out of.

If you do that it should pop up under the new USB port.

I have unplugged and re-plugged in my AVR ISP mkII in Win 10.xxx many times without difficulty.

Edit:

Ops, I meant in Win 10 !

WinUSB isn't quite identical between Windows 7 and 10; WinUSB underwent a major update for Windows 10.

Might try How do I get my Tool to be recognized by Atmel Studio? | Atmel Studio 7

edit :

AVRISP mkII might not be rated for USB suspend; a guess is the instances of WinUSB have different actions for USB suspend and USB resume.

Might try the AVRISP mkII on a self-powered USB hub as USB suspend has current limits; more an issue for notebook PC in comparison to desktop or workstation PC.

This is a well known deficiency in the system - it cannot cope with restart from sleep. Simple solution: Just don't let it sleep.

Why not simply close Studio when finished?  It requires 3 hours of rest every 24 hours or it protests by stealthily decreasing its optimization & adding extra variable swappings.
