Hi,

I have a board where Flip doesn't recognize the on-chip DFU boot loader. I have a JTAGICE mkII at hand. The application programed on the chip seems to work, but I need to reprogram it. My system is Win7-64.

Is there a way to update the DFU through AVRstudio5 or AVR32studio?

The reason I'm asking is that the documentation on page 12 of http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resourc...
doesn't seem to match the directory structure of ASF-2.5.1.27 which I just downloaded.

Thanks,
Borge

HI,

I'm having the same trouble, I have an EVK1101 and a JTAGICE mkII, using AVRstudio5 on a XP computer. I've been programming examples and such with no problems, but erased the bootloader. I would really like to reprogram the bootloader so I can test it but can't find any of the files or direction on how to program it in AVRstudio5.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Paul

Hi Paul,

I eventually ended up using AVR32studio 2.7 from http://www.atmel.no/beta_ware/

There is a "Program Bootloader" option in the AVR Targets menu. Right-click on your JTAGISPmkII, and you'll see it. I used it with default settings on two 'UAC3A3256 boards.

I asked Atmel to update their documentation so that this solution is easier to find.

Anybody know how it's done in AVRstudio5?

Thanks Borge, I'm glad you've found a solution. I'm a bit disappointed I have to install AVR32studio 2.7 though, now that I'm comfortable with AVRstudio 5 I sure would like to stay with it.

Shouldn't it be possible for Atmel to provide us with a compiled file we could use in AVRstudio 5 to reprogram the bootloader? I apologize if thats a newbie question, but I don't have a lot experience implementing bootloaders.

Hey,

how are we supposed to get the source for the DFU Bootloader, if they removed it in the newest verstion of the avr software framework? Is there a reason they removed it? Maybe they outsourced it somewhere new?

Waldemar

Source code is in-progress for the ASF 2 structure.
For now it is only available in the ASF1.7 (http://www.atmel.com/forms/softw... or in AVR32 Studio 2.6 / 2.7)

Is it still not possible to program using DFU in AVRStudio 5? I just installed the latest version of it, and cant find any way to program over DFU.

No, there is no built-in function (yet). You need to load the elf manually using Batchisp. I think you can do it in AVR Studio 5 using the "post build event" in the project option, writing the batchisp command line here.
