Hi there,

I am trying to measure the ground speed using an ATtiny13.

The real problem is that I canot understand the functionality of the sensor that is on the truck.

The sensor is a magnetic sensor near the motor gear. It counts while the gear is turning. I am trying to undersyand the functionality using my meters but I can't.

Does anybody knows how it works, I mean what is the type of the electrical signal or if it is just a contact.

thank you very much.

Michael.

It probably is either a variable reluctance sensor or a Hall-sensor. How many wires does it have?

It has only 2 cables.

then very likely it's a variable reluctance sensor; this is just a coil with a magnet that senses edges on toothed gears for example. You will need to condition/amplify the signal. I'm sure you'll find some circuits if you google.
