Hi,

I recently bought an Atmel ICE, today I started using it to program an old Arudino UNO board. Initially it all went well and I was able to program it without any issues, then I try to use the debugWire option. I guess I screwed up at some point and now I'm not able to do anything with the ICE.

Every time I try to connect via SPI i get the message on the image. I'm unable to download anything via Atmel Studio or Ardino IDE.

Can anyone have any idea how to get out of this

There is a jumper between two pads on the board that has to be cut to allow debugging on an UNO.  Depending on which model of UNO you have it's marked DEBUG on the top side of the board.

You will need to apply a solder bridge between the pads to restore normal (non-debug) operation of the boot loader.

NOTE: When you upload code via ISP, you have overwritten the boot loader code, so to return to normal boot loader operation, you must reload the bootloader code via the Arduino Tool/Burrn boot loader menu.

Summary, unsolder or cut debug jumper to use debugWire via Atmel-Ice

Solder jumper to restore normal bootloader operation along with reprogramming boot loader via the burn boot loader menu using ISP (atmel-ice programmer)
