I have a strange problem that I hope someone can help with.
I am attempting to use AVR Studio version 4.09 Build 338 which is the latest available on the Atmel site. I have two machines in my office and on one of them AVR Studio seems to be working fine. Both machines are similar configurations with Win-XP
However on the other, I can't get the Simulator to select any device other than a ATmega128. From the moment I start a project, the only device I can select is the ATmega128. All of the other devices are shown in the list, although they are grayed out.
Looking in C:\Program Files\Atmel\AVR Tools\PartDescriptionFiles\
I can see that all of the XML files are there for other AVR's, but I can't select any of them.
If I attempt to select a different debug device, I get strange device lists also.
JTAGICE2 doesn't allow any devices to be selected.
ICE40 and ICE50 only know about the ATmega8
JTAGICE will allow the first 8 devices to be selected as does ICE200
And as above, AVR Simulator only allows the ATmega128 to be chosen
I have loaded and unloaded AVR Studio at least 6 times now, scanned my machine for anything that looks out of the ordinary and this is really starting to peeve me big-time. I have just selected the defaults during the installs.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going wrong here ?
