Hi guys,

The problem I'm facing is that when I try to program my atmega128 (Stk500 with Stk501) the AvrStudio can't connect to the Stk, it can't even find it. It get stuck to the window where you choose COM1,COM2 etc.

The problem occured after I tryied to program with some external parts on the STK, an analog sensor and a capacitor connected to the pins AREF and GND.

I've tested in tow different PC's ...both the same problem..

I think that's what probably caused the malfunction.

If anyone had a similar problem or has any info on this...your help is more than welcomed!!!

You should always be able to connect with the STK500. Are you using a USB->RS232 cable with a COM# greater than the STK500 attempts to connect with ?

If you fear you have a hardware problem, remove the STK501 board, and try to connect.

David.

I tried programming with Usb-RS232 and with RS232 cable directly(differnt PC).

I fear I might burned it...
I did what you said...(If you fear you have a hardware problem, remove the STK501 board, and try to connect)

I finally removed the AVR and connected STK501...and it worked..I think I damaged the microcontroller..but that's the best that could happen!

Thanx for the help!
