Work saw fit to upgrade me to a new laptop, hooray! Things compile much, much faster, sweet! It has a version of Windows that isn't 10+ years old...err...yay?

My old laptop had Windows XP SP3, and I was using Studio 5 and my Dragon with no problems to program my EVK1104. My new laptop is Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit, which has the newest version of AVR Studio 5 (just released a few days ago, apparently?).

Before everyone sends me off to the threads that deal with installing the Jungo drivers properly, I've done that, and I can communicate with the Dragon. AVR Studio 5 recognizes the Dragon, and even can read the firmware version off the Dragon (using AVR Tools Firmware Upgrade), the problem is strictly when I try to interface with a MCU attached via JTAG (specifically, my EVK1104). See attached image for the specific error message.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Dragon/Jungo drivers, but this error seems to persist. If anyone has any ideas I'm open to trying them!

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and have never had problems connecting to an XMEGA-A1 Xplained via an AVR Dragon using JTAG. So, unless it's something specific to the Enterprise Edition, it's probably not Windows. The error message doesn't provide much insight into the nature of the problem.

Have you checked the Jungo drivers..? ;-) (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

I am not running the latest release of AS5. I am currently downloading the new release and will give it a try this evening and let you know what happens.

Yeah, the error message doesn't really provide much help...kind of annoyed at that. I do have a Linux computer, I suppose I could always set up AVR Studio 32 2.6/7 on that and try that.

This is a low priority for me at the moment, since I primarily use DFU and rarely actually debug (something about time sensitive USB applications doesn't like breakpoints... :p).

I updated to AS5 build 5.0.1223 and both my AVR Dragon and JTAGICE mkII are working fine.

Good Luck!

I know you said you don't want this advice but take a look at www.atmel.no/beta_ware/ where there is an updated Jungo driver that says something along the lines of "fixes stability issues in Win7 x64". So maybe the Jungo you've got "works" enough to read the Dragon but not enough for full speed debugging operation? (maybe?)
