Hello genius', I have purchased an ISP-Loader from Futurlec (made by Micro-Research) and they sent me a copy of PonyProg2000 on CD. I went to the website and Emailed the creator and my mail was returned...his Email address is invalid..? Can anyone tell me if my board needs to be powered or unpowered to program using this ISP. They sent me minimal data about usage. Also, my laptop doesn't come equipped with a DB-25 (Dell E1705) so I purchased a USB to serial adapter with a gender changer.....Does anyone think/know if this configuration will work? Thanks in advance.

All the programmers I know need the target to be powered as quite a few programmers get their juice from the VTG pin of the target. The ones that are self powered through the USB will not program the chip if VTG is 0, remember that the chip needs to be running for programming.
