Hello 'Freaks,

I searched the forums for a thread on recommended plugins for Atmel Studio. Do you care to share your default setup? I have always been a BASCOM guy, but I have played with Studio and there are a ton of available plugins...any recommendations?

Also, how trustworthy are the posted projects? I downloaded a zip file, extracted it and then opened it in Studio and...nothing but an error message stating that the code did not exist!!??

I did not see a place to comment on the projects!! Am I not looking in the right spot?

Thanks

What "projects" are you talking about? Do you mean from here:

https://spaces.atmel.com/gf/

Or are you talking about ASF projects built into the installation? They should all be complete and work - if not you should report it to Atmel.

As for recommended extensions. My list is:

Visual Assist (installed by default)
Naggy
Xfeatures
MarginOfError
Crash reporter Beta
Msys GNU Utilites
Create Project from Makefile
Data Size Viewer
Max Stack Usage checker
Hex Classifier
Memory Logger
Live Watch

Some I rely on completely while some I just downloaded to explore and have barely used. So the above list is in the order I personally rate their usefulness. I would at least get everything down as far as MarginOfError

Thanks Cliff,

I was referring to projects listed on 'Freaks! For example, SolderStationwill not load in Studio.

Also, several of the "Tools" listings on 'Freaks are no longer valid!!

Thanks
John

Your observation is correct. The ZIP contains nothing but the project file - no sources at all. The author screwed up, or he merely submitted his very meager beginning of this project.

Point it out to Ross, and he will know what do to with is - probably ask the cleaner(s) to remove it, since the projects section is for finished projects only.

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

OK thanks Johann - AVRtools and AVRDroid is gone too under the TOOLS tab...tons of pages of tools, I hope the new site separates the list into more easily accessible categories and subcategories!
