Read a book about microcontrollers.

Google "microcontrollers"

Create some Proteus projects on your favourite microcontrollers and ask the Proteus forum when it does not work.

Options abound......

You can edit your profile to include your location.

You can go to this web site: http://www.123dapp.com/circuits

You could research this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KiCad

You could order several ultra cheap Arduino UNO clones off www.aliexpress.com

Then open a thread in the appropriate forum about it and I will lock this thread.

Pulling the reset pin to ground shouldn't have zorched it, unless you got it too close to your tusks.

When you let the reset float, did the avr exit from the reset state and fetch the instruction from from address zero and start executing?

Since this is now turning into a topic for the Evaluation and Development kits I will move this over...

I noticed that 328 chip still executes the program i last flashed. It is the mdbg that failed i guess. When i connect the board to pc - nothing happens as is nothing is connected. 328 starts to execute the program though.
