Dear Atmel could you look at the possibility of migrating the studio functionality to Eclipse. This could be a way of supporting Linux and MS dev platforms.

In the thread about the AVR32 there was a post saying for the AVR32 Atmel was going to come out with a plugin for the AVR32 for Eclipse. But this was mentioned by some random poster and not by anybody from Atmel. It would be nice if there was a plugin for AVR8. I've heard that Eclipse is a nice IDE. The other possibility is running AVRStudio with wine which supposedly worked for a person mentioned in a different tread. I think there is a lot of us who run some unix derivative.
