Pull the RESET line up with a 4.7..10k resistor to VCC.

Vcc = 3.0 V and i've tried 4.7k and 10k p.ups; didn't work and i get 3.0 V at both ends of p.up . Atmel said i didn't need a p.up on PDI ( but what do they know :wink:).

If i touch a piece of metal to the rst. pin, it starts working;PDI DOES have an int. p.up, so there's no ext. one. I'm wondering if my power supply chip isn't providing a fast enough transition to rst the MCU?
