Hi Bingo,

they are existing:

Sorry, it is in Germany, but there should be other distributors.

Cheers, Ba

Ba and Arnold: have any suggestions for other manufacturers? I don't see either of those at my standard distributors (Digi-Key and Mouser)

Or a proper search term to use?

???

Searching DigiKey for "banana jack", and then limiting to "through hole", there are about 100 choices.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

Plug in "Deltron 571-0500" into the Mouser search field.

Well, of in stock items - I found one that looks OK: http://search.digikey.com/script...

Doesn't have any colored ring on it, which makes me sad.

The Deltron ones look OK too - maybe better as I'd think they'd be a bit stronger.

If looking for "strength" and if you have space beneath the board, then consider traditional panel-mount "binding posts" with the larger diameter hole, and solder your connecting wire.
