Hey there all.

Currently I am developing an application that needs a simple digital joypad control.

I'm looking for where I can find the joypad mechanism - i've looked at Farnell, RS and Switches Plus to no avail.

The joypad needs to be small, about 20mmx20mm and needs to have

UP
DOWN
LEFT
RIGHT
CENTRE
(Centerbutton being like the center button on the XBOX analog control stick.)

I empasise that I am looking for a joypad as opposed to a joystick.

A similar / same style to those seen on PDAs (ie their centre control pad) would be ideal :)

So if you have any idea where I can find this sort of thing I would appreciate some assistance :)

Look foward to some responses,

odd.

Hi,

there has been some discussions on this forum where to get the joystick that's used on the butterfly. So you could do a search for it.

Hi,

I recently ordered a couple of different 4way + enter digital joypad's from both RS & farnell.

For farnell try :
415-6225 - TPA511G 4 Way + Select
415-6249 - BTNTPA02-02(Clear) Button - TPA Hat
(Both on page 433 of Book2 (2004 NZ catalogue))

For RS try :
336-7413 - SKQUCA - Multi-Fn Tactile (4 Way + Enter)
(page 1083 in NZ 2003 RS Catalogue)

With the farnell part you can purchase a nice Hat which gives you a bigger surface for your finger. Looks like the farnell device is only available in surface mount.

The RS part is the same as that on the Atmel Butterfly (I think). I'm not sure if there are hats available for this part.

Hope this is what you needed. :D
