I'm totally OT here, friends, but I am really desperate so...
I have, for the last Year or so been trying to order some stuff from the German firm Geist-Electronic but without success. As can be seen in an old thread (https://www.avrfreaks.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14229&highlight=geist) I thought this had to do with me writing in english.
So I asked my old mom to help me translate a short letter to German. It simply asks if Geist delivers to Sweden and ,if so, how they prefer to receive payment. This message has been E-mailed to Geist. As all the other e-mails I have sent there, this also generates an automatic answer which I think says "message received. Well process it in due time" or somesuch.
And what happends? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
So now I'm dear need for Your help:
Q: Has anyone here done business with Geist recently? Are they a functioning company (as they are updating their catalog it seems they are up and running).
Any tip on how to get their attention would be great.
As a last resort: Would anyone here, living in Germany, be willing to help me get my hands on a kit from Geist? If so, send me a PM and we'll work out the details, logistics and rewards...
Whats the big deal, You might ask. This: In March 2003 the electronics magazine Elektor presented a logic analyzer using FIFO memories (and being controlled by an AVR!). Geist sells (?) a kit with PCBm, all parts except for the AVR but with one 4K FIFO. I really wanted this, but with some big FIFOS, eg. 16K. Thinking the FIFOS would be the hard part I started with hunting for them. This was no easy task as they had to be in a DIP package (rather than the abundant PLCC FIFOs) to fit the PCB. I had almost given up when a fellow AVRFreak helped me to no less than 6 FIFOs each 32K. (For free. I am forever greatful!) Figuring the hard part was over I started e-mailing to Geist to get the kit ... and has come nowhere.
So now I have $300 or so worth of FIFOs and nothing to put them in. It drives me crazy! I was naturally planning to burn the AVR myself and I can, of-course, collect the rest of the parts myself. But I have no means to make the double-sided plated-through-hole PCB.
[sobbing] Please, help...
