Good news,
the 2 work well together, after having connected 4.8V (4*1.2) NiMH Accus to the Butterfly, because the BF internal battery was too weak for the Olimex. I would recommend not to connect the JTAG Pin 7 to the Vcc but rather use external power as the original Atmel JTAG does. Everything else run fine, as long as you define COM1 or COM2 in the USB/RS232 driver, else AVR Studio will not find the JTAG. BTW I found a LCD simulator in the web, is there any info on how to program plugins for AVR Studio? Up to now I didn't find anything in this respect.

The Butterfly battery is too weak even for the Butterfly if you plan to use the RS232 port. After a brief period plan on saying good bye not only to your battery, but if you happen to be using the bootloader, you might set a fuse bit accidently as the power drops and have to reprogram the thing with the ISP connection (pure speculation, but probable).
